Abstract

|
Lumbar spinal stenosis is the most common degenerative spinal disease. The treatments include non-surgical and surgical treatment. Surgical treatment is considered when non-surgical treatments are failed. When surgical treatment is considered, understanding for surgical methods, prognostic factors and outcome is important for optimal surgical strategy. Nowadays, the concept of sagittal balance is introduced and applied in surgical planning. When surgical treatment is indicated, performing relevant surgery is better than holding non-surgical treatment with regards to pain, functional status, quality of life and cost-effectiveness during postoperative 5 years. However, the effect of surgery diminish because of aging with time.
